    FDC - Opening Speech

A few minute opening speech about who we are and what we do. From a seemingly difficult idea to the actual execution. What does it take to build an event that everyone can benefit from, and what really drives us forward in general. Few words about the schedule and introduction of the speakers.

Elisa Oyj - Talent and Open Source

When you think of Elisa as a company, your first thought most certainly isn't the vibrant, lively and moderately sized software unit that lives inside. Leading heads of Elisa's software business are going to tell about what is happening out there in the field. Shedding some light on what is required from a developer these days, and what are the kinds of talent that modern business is looking for, you will learn more about being a valuable asset for any company. Elisa is eager to tell you what kind of a role has the relatively young React library taken in a big corporate technology stack, thus bridging us to the main topic of the day.

Part I - Concepts and Basics

You will get to meet and learn from two great guys who have been very keen on sharing their knowledge about the latest developments in the field. Having worked in companies the likes of Reaktor and UpCloud, the course materials/teaching will be hands-on, goal oriented and fast learning driven. After a quick introduction and overview of the topic, the laptops and minds will be humming until the first break.

    Break - Catering

A quick break from the busy first half will offer an opportunity to eat and talk more with your fellow attendees. Set a goal of meeting at least one new fast learner, and the break might end up opening a whole bunch of new possibilities for your future. Who knows...

    Microsoft - Ecosystem for Developers

Thanking Microsoft for the great support that their Finnish unit has been offering us, we would like to give the company a moment to tell about what has been going on in its operations, and where their business is heading in the future. Seems like the company has its nose in everything that's related to IT. BizSpark and Azure as an examples have been making quite a name in its ecosystem.

    Part II - Development Continues

We will continue working on what was started during the first half of the course. How about adding something of your own to the front-side of your application, or spicing it up with some nice visuals? The same guys will be right here to answer your questions and help you out! If the time allows and the necessary progress has been made, you will get to proudly present your fiddlings to the rest of the attendees.

    Sauna and Relaxing

The brain is weak and an exhausting work week is coming to an end. Sauna at MicrosoftHQ in Keilaniemi before kicking off the weekend? We got you covered. Some cold drinks, fun time together and more networking with some like-minded people is what any future professional needs. We are looking to form a community of ambitious and inspiring connectors who support each other in the future too! This day by FDC ends here, but the experience lives on.

FAQ

Please send an e-mail to info@fastdevschool.com if you've got more questions, or require further clarification. We will do our best to answer you as soon as possible.

  • What is Fast Development Company?

Fast Development Company is a small group of full-time students working in various fields, enjoying their hobbies and having a tad of entrepreneurial mind. We have been passionately spending our time on building a concept for delivering genuinely valuable learning experiences. What we truly believe in though, is that if we are able to bring the right people together, and inspire each other to constantly learn and develop, some beautiful things will happen. Lots of work needs still to be done, but we certainly are advancing fast. Looking to form a community, we invite you to join us first in the social media, and later as a full-fledged part of the community, where ambitious and inspiring people do what they are best at.

  • Why only the chosen attendees will be able to join?

This one-day rapid larning course is a pilot event that is aimed at proving the concept, showcasing the ability to produce such events, looking at the experience of attendees and collecting valuable feedback. Going minimum viable with this event means that there is a limited amount of people who can be invited to learn with us at this "Beta"- stage. We expect the amount of attendees to be somewhere around 20-30 people for this event. It is free of charge for you guys, and if everything goes well, we sure will open up for more people and look into developing cutting edge technology driven events in the future.

  • What should I bring with me to the course?

Bring your laptop with a suitable text editor installed. (Sublime or Atom is recommended.) Throw a notebook, pen and paper in the bag with you. Thinking to join us for the sauna evening as stated in the above schedule? Be sure to grab a towel! We also recommend to recap the basics of JS to bring the syntax back fresh in your mind. With a positive, open-minded and motivated attitude you will definitely go far!

  • What are the requirements to join the course?

Now after some discussions and the power of public demand, we chose the growing and trendy ReactJS library to be an optimal starting point for benchmarks. This means that basics of JS, HTML and CSS are required. Some previous knowledge of other languages will be counted as a benefit. Future will bring various courses with lower and higher entry points respectively. Make sure to state your skills in the form below!

  • How will I know that I'm invited to the course?

    1. Send a properly filled out form (below). 2. Receive an invitation to the email that you provided (somewhat around one week before the event). 3. Respond to the invite within the next 48 hours to lock your seat, otherwise it will go to someone else. 4. Be in the right place at the right time!

  • What should I do next?

If you haven't sent out the form yet (below), then do it right now! If that is done already, keep your eyes peeled at your inbox for an invite. If you are not invited for some weird reason, don't worry, you will definitely have a chance to join our events in the future! Meanwhile follow us on FB, Twitter and Instagram.
